Tutorial Time: 1 minute.
Tutorial Requirements:
- An Apple computer running Mac OS-X.
Tutorial Overview:
This tutorial illustrates how to change the default web page that Safari loads upon launching. This is useful if the default has changed unexpectedly, or if you’re unhappy with the current default. Here are the steps to do this:
- Open Safari from the Dock:

(Safari will open and load up your default homepage.) - In the Menu Bar at the top of the screen, click Safari > Preferences:

(Safari preferences will open.) - On the General tab, locate the Homepage field:

- Highlight the text and type in the URL of the new default page (i.e., http://vorattamediasystems.com/ or http://www.google.ca/ etc.)
- Alternatively, before opening Safari preferences, you can browse to the page you want to set as the default, open Safari preferences, and use the “Set to Current Page” button to automatically pick up the URL to the page.
- When your new default homepage has been set, simply close the preferences window.
Conclusion:
That’s it! Now when you open up Safari for the first time, it will automatically load the page we just set as the default.
As always, please post your feedback, questions, suggestions, etc in the comments section at the bottom of this blog post! Thanks.
